MARINE BOAT CRUISES

The boatcruises over the atlantic ocean along the very special namibian coast is always a highlight of each trip.

Protected by the sand tip of Pelican Point, the cruises takes place in the quiet water of Walvis bay semi-lagoon. Either coming from Etosha, Damaraland or the Namib desert, it is a surprisingly discovery to sail in an area where encounters with Seals, Dolphins, Pelicans, thousands of Cormorans and sometimes whales (Humpback and Southern right) are commun.

The profesionnal skippers will tell you all about the passionating fauna, history, fishing, and political themes of this special area.
Us who are guiding for many years now in the country, are always looking forward the cruise in our trips. There is always something new and it is such a nice breath of fresh marine air!

Various cruises are possible:

visit of the Walvis bay harbour, the biggest between Cape Town in RSA and Luanda in Angola, visit of Bird Island, a huge platform used by every kind of bird, very special russian boats, discovery of Pelican point and its own seal colonies, you’ll then look for dolphins. The Benguela Dolphin, endemic to the nambian coast is the smallest (and more than probably the cutest) dolphin in the world. The Bottlenose dolphin is impressive by its mass and are serious fish hunters along the shore. (app.3hours)

A light lunch will then be served on the boat, coming with sparkling south african wine (local champagne!) and a degustation of fresh oysters coming directly from the bay.

A shorter and cheaper version of 1h30 can also be organised.

For the silent lover, a catamaran can also carry you.

kayak trips are also highly recommended as the interactions between the animals and you are much more intenses. Your guide Jeanne will transmit you her passion for this wonderful ecosystem.

For the birdlovers, an excursion of this kind will give you the opportunity of observing the following birds: White Chinned Petrel, Wilson’s Storm Petrel, Cape Gannet, Black Oyster catcher, flamingoes (greater and lesser) and even the Jackass Penguin who comes from time to time. Pelicans love to fly close the boat, providing you exceptionnal photographic opportunities.
