The Desert Homestead lies three kilometres northwest of the C19 and D854 roads junction, approx. 32km southeast of Sesriem.
The wide grassy valley is sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains with a view reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west.
Alfresco dining, delectably fresh farm cuisine, refreshing dips in the pool, stunning sunsets and sunrises are the basic pleasures at our lodge.
It offers 20 thatched, en-suite chalets, all luxuriously decorated in pale linens and dark wood riempie furniture. Each unit has its own veranda under a latte canopy with Northern views extending to the Rotterkaum Mountains… the ideal retreat after a busy day in the dunes.
Inside they provide luxury, with large single or double beds and en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. The lights and fans in the guest accomodation is powered by a bank of batteries, which are charged by wind and solar power during daytime. All our guest amenities (soaps, shampoo, body lotion etc.) are environmentally friendly
The Desert Homestead has excellent riding horses, all docile and easy to handle. You can choose between several outrides options. Most popular are our sunrise and sunset rides. Also on offer is the sundowner drive in the evenings which includes a leisurely nature drive, slowly winding up a mountain, and culminating in gin and tonics and snacks, before venturing home again. An excursion in a 4X4 vehicle to the free standing tallest dunes in the world “Sossusvlei”.
