Description

Welcome to the huge private reserve of Erindi, 80 000 hectares dedicated to conservation of wildlife, incommensurate elsewhere.

This reserve was built and organized around the acquisition of farms in central Namibia in order to make a protected area and dedicated to conservation. This major project has opened its doors in 2008 after nearly 10 years of feasibility studies and work. The removal of all fences, such as livestock farms was titanic.

Most species extinct because of human settlement have been introduced : Cape eland, lion, white rhino and black (third concentration in Namibia after the Damaraland and Etosha / Kaokoland) … up to a dozen wild dogs ( Wild dogs whose habitat has been reduced by 95% in Africa) have already had a litter of 11 puppies.

The television channel, Animal Planet, has to spend 6 months to monitor the beginning of 20 lions on their new territory.
A fence surrounding the reserve had to be created and electrified to protect neighboring farms of large predators, including the energy needed for its power comes from solar panels.
