Location :

It is situated at the intersection of the C27 road from Helmeringhausen and the D826 which brings traffic in from Solitaire in the north and Maltahöhe in the south when it joins with the C19. The entrance gate to Desert Camp is located on the lefthand side of the D826 road, ±8 kilometres from the T-junction intersection with the C19.

The entrance to the world renowned Sossusvlei Lodge is situated a further 5 kilometres down the D826 on the righthand side of the road. This luxury lodgelies a mere 550 metres from the entrance gate to the Namib Naukluft Park, home to the famous Sossusvlei and some of the highest dunes in the world.

Facilities available:

Guests to report to reception on arrival in order to complete the necessary paperwork, get the room key and hire eating & cooking utensils if required. Ordering meal packs, booking meals at the nearby Lodge, requesting boma usage, purchasing firewood and firelighters are all done through reception. Public toilets are available at the reception area.

Accommodation available:

Desert Camp’s affordable luxury accommodation comprises twenty units, each with en-suite bathroom, twin beds, fold-out and shaded veranda with kitchenette. Each accomodation unit sleeps a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 12 years.

No other persons are permitted without prior arrangement and approval. All accommodation must be paid for in advance. All accomodation units must be vacated by 10H00 on the day of departure.

Activities:

An early morning excursions to Sossusvlei, Sesriem Canyon, nature drives by 4×4 or quad bike, sunrise & sunset drives, ballooning and it is safe to walk freely on the premises provided that contact with wild animals, snakes, scorpions and other reptiles is avoided.

Should you encounter such an animal or reptile, stand still or back off slowly – avoid sudden movements and noise. Most times the animal is more scared than you are and attacks and bites are normally a result of intended self-defence.
