GUNN’S CAMP

Okavango, Botswana

Description

Set under leafy palms and African Ebony to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunn’s Camp achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness.
Your African experience starts with a twenty minute light aircraft transfer from Maun over the south-western Delta, taking in the magnificence of the winding, papyrus fringed channels that make up one of the worlds greatest wet land wonders. You will
be able to see some of Africa’s most celebrated animals from a bird’s eye view – 500 FT above the ground.

An elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma and swimming pool. A rustic restaurant and meals can be enjoyed under the stars or around the campfire. a large wooden viewing deck built over the river, the notorious Bush Camp Cave Bar and a sparkling swimming pool surrounded by tall ebony palm trees.

Activities

Mukoro trips- Become part of the bustling river life by easing between the papyrus clad banks on traditional ‘mokoro’ canoes. These are propelled from the stern by skilled ‘poler’ guides, allowing the guests to sit back and absorb the scenery. For full day trips, Gunn’s Camp prepares delicious picnic lunches which can be enjoyed on a Delta
island after an exhilarating bush walk.

Bush-Walks- Explore the wilderness on foot under the guidance and education of your own personal guide. Feel your senses ignite as you become part of life in the bush and
encounter game without the parameters of a vehicle.

Island Camping- The camp managers will pack your mokoro with basic camping equipment and food so that you can set out with your own personal guide to find an island where you will set up camp. The evening will be spent preparing dinner around the campfire in the company of Africa’s nocturnal wildlife.

Motor-boat sunset cruises-A great way to explore the crystal clear channels of the Boro River, motor-boat cruises are organised in time to toast the unprecedented African sunsets while drifting on a lagoon in the middle of the Okavango Delta. Watch as the mutating colours are reflected in the smooth waters, disturbed only by dipping swallows or
curious hippos. (Gunn’s Main Camp only, unless by prior arrangement and subject to delta water levels)
